Hey! I’m Heidi.

I’m a mother of five, a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and a woman working hard to balance the needs of my family and the demands of life – while still making time to pursue my own health, interests & needs.

When I became a mom and began meeting the needs of a growing family, I pushed my own needs and interests to the bottom of my priority list.  Unintentionally. Because, that’s what a good mom does, right?!

Personal time is definitely more limited when you become a mom. The “to-do” list gets longer and it’s never done. When you reach midlife you hit a new level of crazy busy with growing kids. I spent several years feeling overwhelmed with the pace of life. I felt pressured and frustrated that I couldn’t get everything done. I worked faster and harder to be more productive, but I could never catch up.

Taking time for myself wasn’t an option. I believed the most important thing was to be a good mom, and that meant giving all my time and energy to my kids. I wasn’t showing up as my best in any area of life. I felt disconnected with myself as I got pushed further and further down the list to “someday.” I knew there had to be a better way to live, I just didn’t have time to figure it out.

When I found coaching I learned things I could do to create more balance in life, ways to take more accountability for hard situations I thought were out of my hands, and how how honoring my needs as a person keeps my relationships strong.

I didn’t realize the key was my relationship with myself. When that’s out of balance, so are your other relationships. Coaching helped me see that not making time for my personal needs was taking a bigger toll than I realized. I was often frustrated or resentful. I believed in the Midlife Mom Myths we debunk in my coaching program. I discovered that the story I was telling myself wasn’t the only story available - I could look at things differently and make changes that improved things. Life has its moments, but it’s the greatest adventure we get.  Don’t you want to enjoy it more?

Coaching felt like taking my first deep breath in a long time. And it felt good! I was missing something I really needed and I didn’t even know it. I realized that good emotional health improves all of my relationships, including my relationship with myself. We forget that we are still growing & developing right alongside our children, just in different ways.
